Luna Cat’s multimedia art project, 'My body is a battleground, get a haircut' challenges the conventional norms imposed on women, urging a re-evaluation of established roles and identities.
In a 12 hour studio session, the artist’s raw and embodied performance is captured on film as they systematically dismantles symbols of societal expectation. Over the course of this long and
emotionally charged studio session, the act of cutting becomes a metaphorical and literal tool of empowerment. A wedding dress, pieces of lingerie and their hair— all remnants of societal conformity—are severed from their body, marking a reclamation of self and identity.
Each cut is a deliberate act, a visual proclamation of taking back control over their own narrative.
